Wherever you find yourself along your spiritual journey, know that you can find a welcome here at the Chebeague Community Church.
For us, it's not so much the destination as the journey that's important - one that we take together to love more deeply, live more abundantly, and be more fully the people that God created us to be. Discipleship is a journey in trust, knowing that we follow the One who guides our steps and invites us into a community of love and joy.
So wherever you are - stopped by the wayside, traveling in circles, moving forward or moving backward - it doesn't matter. Join us on the adventure that awaits.

Membership
There are a variety of ways to participate as a member at the Chebeague Community Church. All are welcome to join us for worship, Bible study, and to participate in our ministries, regardless of background. Membership is a decision to intentionally make this church your spiritual home.
Membership in a church is primarily about commitment to a community. At the Chebeague Community Church, we believe that everyone belongs, but membership is something different - it is a visible and public statement about being the church together. As a member, your covenant with us is to faithfully engage the work of Jesus Christ through this church by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness.

It takes all of us working together to achieve our mission: “We are called to be an inclusive, diverse and caring Christian community: worshipping, praying, witnessing, reaching out to all people on the Island and beyond, daring to grow and change as God calls us.” Membership is one way to express your commitment to that mission. As we become the Chebeague Community Church, I invite you to prayerfully consider taking that step with us through becoming a member. You can read more about membership in our bylaws.
Any individual 13 and older may become a member in the categories below:

who claim the Chebeague Community Church as their primary or home church. Members are eligible to serve on all committees of the church.
|
who may claim formal church membership in another congregation or denomination, but who want to be involved with the ministry of the church by serving on committees.
|
of the Chebeague Community Church who do not wish to become a formal "member" of the church, but who express sympathy with its purposes and programs and support the life of the church.

If you are interested in membership at any level or have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Victor Diaz, Chaplain at [email protected] or by leaving a message at the church office at 207.846.6987.
Members and Associate Members, according to our bylaws, have vote at our Membership Meetings.
Those who wish to join as members need to schedule a conversation with Victor Diaz, Chaplain about why they wish to join, how they hope to serve the church, and about what faith formation they've had (and hope to have!) in relationship with this congregation.
We take in members during worship so that the entire community can welcome our new members and so that we can reaffirm and renew our own covenant of membership in the church together.

Baptism
Baptism is also an important step on the membership journey. If you haven't yet been baptized and are interested in joining the church, please talk to Victor Diaz, Chaplain. With baptism, we understand that God claims us as part of the family and that God is active in our lives, even before we are aware of it. We baptize infants and children, understanding that in this sacrament, it is God who acts. Generally, children who are baptized later go through confirmation classes when approaching the age of 13, and become members upon completion of the course on Sunday morning when the full community is gathered to celebrate and affirm this step on their faith journey.
Music
We love when guest musicians share their gifts with us; this past year we had music featuring Melissa Doughty, Paul English, Bob Eaton, Chip Emery, and Katie Urich to name a few. There are always opportunities to sing, play, and make a joyful noise unto our God!
